Losses from Online Shopping & Auction Fraud by Area

Methodology

With millions of people shopping online, the number of scams occurring is on the rise - meaning consumers have to be more vigilant than ever. At Wholesale Clearance, we analysed data from every police force in the UK to find out which area was the worst for online scams. To do this, we recorded the number of online shopping and auction scams and the amount lost, between June 2021 - July 2022, according to Action Fraud. We then figured out the number of cases by 100,000 people, using the latest population data.
